What does your day-to-day look like / what does your role involve?
Very varied. There is usually an element of looking at the finances, checking the industry news, ensuring new features are doing what I think they should, and generally helping others to do their job.
What did you do before working at Kobas?
I’ve been in tech literally forever, wrote my first, rubbish, piece of software in the late 80s before I was 10. I did a number of IT jobs, normally in support or development before starting to write what would later become Kobas.
What’s your favourite thing about working here?
Working in IT can be a tough gig as people only care about you when it’s broken (if you’re internal) or you never see the result of your work (if you sell a product). Kobas is different. We work in the best sector in the world, hospitality, and frequently when I go to a client bar or restaurant I hear how much better someone’s job is now they are using Kobas. This is all the work of the fantastic team we have, it’s testement to what we stand for that many of our team were once users of Kobas, now help others get the most out of it. Also, the boss the great!
After work you can often be found…
