We are currently searching for a full stack PHP developer with experience in AngularJS.

About Kobas

Our hospitality software helps some awesome bars, clubs, restaurants and quick service food venues run their businesses effectively and delight their guests. We love the crossover space of technology and hospitality that our product operates in. As a SaaS platform, we are constantly adding to and enhancing our systems in line with emerging industry needs.

We are a small but growing team who aim to produce quality code and therefore a constantly stable product. We have testers who test bug fixes or new features before any release to production, and we are constantly trying to improve on that process with automatic testing, with the goal of having everything covered by acceptance tests in the future.

We are an experienced and personable bunch, so you’d be in good company and your contribution to what we do would be extremely significant. We have an ambitious vision for our product and are looking for capable, pro-active people to help us get it there. The company is set to see significant growth over the next 12 months, so you’d have the chance to get in and make your mark before that kicks off in earnest. Of course, such rapid growth means that we need someone who can hit the ground running and enjoys a challenge.

We have three projects in continuous development that you would be working on:

Kobas Cloud

Our cloud based SaaS hospitality management platform provides everything our clients need to recruit and manage their team, and our comprehensive stock management system helps them track, analyse and reduce costs across venues. Real-time usage associated with sales are fed into our reporting system – providing actionable insights into their operations.

Kobas EPoS

Our EPoS software runs on any modern hardware from touch screen tills to iPads, allowing our clients to easily serve customers while stock is managed automatically in the background. It is fully integrated with Kobas Cloud and is used on the front lines of a diverse range of businesses.

Kobas Loyalty

Our loyalty system consists of customer facing websites that are fully integrated with both our Cloud & EPoS software. It allows our clients to track and reward customers, which in turn increases their business and revenue.

About you

The person we seek:

  • Is comfortable programming in both PHP and AngularJS.
  • Has a strong understanding of SQL, can write and improve complex SQL statements.
  • Has experience writing unit tests.
  • Has experience working with, and refactoring legacy code.
  • Is comfortable operating in a Linux server environment.
  • Is capable of working with a high level of autonomy and freedom but can be trusted to communicate and report outwards.
  • Is excited by the prospect of understanding, developing and improving a complex web platform.
  • Understands the impact of their work on our customers and our business.

In terms of technologies, Kobas is mostly written in PHP 7 with an AngularJS front end. It’d be excellent if you knew a thing or two about the other technologies we use including MariaDB, Git, Composer, Codeception, RESTful APIs, data modelling, automated testing, continuous integration, Linux command line, Jenkins etc. Though we’d rather hire someone who’s a great fit for our team and is willing to learn from us and to expand our collective knowledge than someone who simply ticks some technical boxes.

We offer a competitive salary, along with flexible working hours and unlimited leave. We have a pleasant (un-shared) office space in Southwark, with decent hardware to work on and a permanently stocked drinks fridge.

If you’re still reading, then you should apply! Please get in contact ( jobs@kobas.co.uk ) and send along a covering letter and your portfolio, Github account, CV or whatever else you have that you think will show off your skills in the best way.
